Tying with the Chief and Snake Doctor

We added to our circle sort of tonight. My two-year-old nephew "Snake Doctor" is staying over so that Black Sheep and my sister can enjoy some alone time. I'm planning to hit the water tonight and headed out to tie some flies. After a few minutes, the Chief and Snake Doctor joined me. We gathered three stools around the tying bench, the Chief and I each had a Sam, and the little one had a Mott's apple juice. We posed for a picture, and then turned our attention to tying flies.

I think Snake Doctor is going to take to this, and I am looking forward to taking him fishing in a couple of years. He kept attempting to "help" me, making it rather a challenge to accomplish anything. Mostly, I kept an eye on him and answered questions for the Chief.

For his part, he worked on a Hare's Ear Nymph, and did an outstanding job. I am really having to work at this, but he seems to be a natural. He is an Eagle Scout, though, which might be giving him a bit of an advantage.

The best thing about tonight is that it promoted some togetherness without the mind-numbing distraction of the TV. I think this is the first time the three of us just sort of sat around enjoying one another's company. I am looking forward to many more opportunities.
